Kia Has Best-Ever First Quarter
Kia Motors America made an exciting announcement last week that they’ve achieved a new first quarter record. After selling 58,279 vehicles in March alone, Kia attained a best-ever quarter with a record of 146,321 vehicles from January-March. This historic performance included the Sportage, Sedona, and Forte seeing double digit gains from 2015 to 2016. Most notably, Forte experienced its best-ever single month sales in March, selling 10,406 vehicles.
“After outpacing the industry last year and setting a new all-time annual sales record, Kia has carried its momentum into 2016,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA. “Sell down of the outgoing Sportage exceeded our expectations, and the arrival of the completely redesigned model is the latest reason for customers to discover the ‘New Kia’ as we continue challenging everything people think they know about this brand.”

The 2016 Kia Optima has now earned the highest-possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) of Top Safety Pick Plus when it is equipped with the optional front crash prevention system. This system earned a “superior” rating from the IIHS and the vehicle’s impressive crashworthiness earned it a “good” rating in each of the five crash tests from the IIHS. These test include the side impact, head restraint, small overlap front, moderate overlap front, and roof strength.
A Rear-Camera Display comes standard on the 2016 Kia Optima. Some additional safety features that are available depending on the trim level include Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), 360-degree Surround-View Monitor, Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Rear Parking Assist System (RPAS), Front Collision Warning System (FCWS), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) with Lane Change Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

Two Million Vehicles Produced At KMMG
The two millionth vehicle to be produced at the Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) has officially rolled off the assembly line. This plant first opened its doors on November 16, 2006 in West Point, Georgia, and in the six years since then this plant has had a large impact for both Kia sales in the U.S. and for the local community surrounding the plant. The creation of this plant led to over 15,000 jobs in the West Point, GA area thus boosting employment and the local economy. For Kia, this plant is now responsible for more than 40 percent of the Kia vehicles that are sold annually throughout the U.S.

Along with this impressive production achievement, KMMG is also celebrating its highest-ever ranking in the J.D. Power’ Initial Quality Study. In the most recently released study they placed in the top five amongst vehicle assembly plants.

Kia Sedona is a Must Test Drive
Autotrader released their list of Must Test Drive Vehicles for 2016 last week during the New York International Auto Show, which included the 2016 Kia Sedona. To prepare for this list, Autotrader editors test out the latest cars, trucks, and SUVs and use a specific criteria to determine the cars that shoppers should test drive before choosing a car to purchase. Cars must be under $75,000 and score a four or better in each category including, ride quality, cargo capacity, included/available technology, and interior and exterior quality.

A new partnership has been formed between Kia Motors America (KMA) and the non-profit organization, Hire Heroes USA. Through this new partnership, KMA has made an initial donation of $25,000, and they have made Hire Heroes USA the official charity partner of the of the 2016 LPGA Kia Classic. As such, the organization will receive a portion of the proceeds collected through ticket sales.
Hire Heroes USA is an organization that is dedicated to helping retired military veterans find a way to use the skills they learned in the military to forge a successful career as they transition back into civilian life. The organization includes teams of Veteran Transition Specialists that are spread out in seven different areas across the U.S. Most of these specialists are military veterans and have been through this process themselves. The organization provided one-on-one support through internet or telephone coaching to help make the transition easier and inspire success.

U.S. New & World Report has named the 2016 Kia Soul the Best Compact Car for Families in their annual Best Car For Families Awards. There are 21 different categories for these awards and the winners are determined after an in-depth evaluation process that includes judging more than 250 vehicles based on factors such as the availability of family friendly features, professional automotive reviews, seating and cargo volume, and safety and reliability ratings. The winner of each category was then declared as the vehicle with the highest composite score.

Kia Releases Two New Spots for 2016 Optima
Since its release, the 2016 Kia Optima has been changing the game for the midsize sedan segment. While many midsize sedans are boring and similar, the Optima stands out from the crowd. Kia Motors America has released two commercials to highlight the Optima difference in two ads called “Rocket” and “Rubik’s Cube.”
“Rocket” opens with a six-year-old in a toy rocket. Kia explains in the spot that rockets are intended to thrill, but leave little kids feeling largely unimpressed, similar to the midsize sedan market. We see the striking 2016 Kia Optima cruise by the little boy as Kia explains the Optima sets itself apart with a turbo engine and sport-tuned suspension.
“Rubik’s Cube” opens with the infamous 80s game as the narrator explains that it is complicated, frustrating, and a real challenge, much like the entertainment system in most mid-sized sedans. Luckily for 2016 Kia Optima drivers, the car supports Apple CarPlay, making it as easy to pull up apps and music as it is on your iPhone!
