Kia Wins Big At Vehicle Satisfaction Awards
The 2016 AutoPacific Satisfaction Awards is an annual event that recognizes the most satisfying vehicles for sale in the United States. AutoPacific, a California-based research firm conducts over 65,000 surveys with new 2015-2016 vehicle owners. The surveys seek to measure owner satisfaction based on a number of categories including convenience, fuel economy, performance, and comfort. This year, Kia Motors ranked the highest among popular brands and fifth in the industry overall, ahead of several luxury brands including BMW, Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz. Additionally, The 2016 Kia Soul, Optima, and Sedona were VSA segment winners.

Kia Optima and Soul Named Best Family Cars
The ninth annual list of Parents Magazine and Edmund.com’s “10 Best Family Cars of 2016” will appear in the magazine’s July 2016 issue, and so will the ten lucky vehicles who received this prestigious honor, including the 2016 Kia Optima and 2016 Kia Soul. The parenting and automotive experts evaluated hundreds of cars based on their safety, performance, and family-friendly features. Kia is only one of two car brands that has two of their vehicles on the list.
“Kia places a priority on safety as well as packing our vehicles with innovative and easy-to-use features at an outstanding value, and the recognition from Parents magazine and Edmunds.com validates our efforts,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning, KMA. “The Optima and Soul have numerous features geared toward families who are looking for advanced driver assistance systems, cutting-edge technology, spacious passenger seating and ample cargo capacity.”

Kia Reaches May Sales Record
This week, Kia Motors America announced it has experienced its best May sales numbers on record. Sales totaled 62,926 units, which means this is the fourth monthly sales record in 2016 out of five months. Leading the pack was the Kia Sportage which sold a total of 8,568 units compared to last May’s 4,487 units and the Kia Sorento whose sales totaled 11,914 units.
“Our popular ‘Summer’s On Us’ sales event generated significant showroom traffic, and we reached new heights in May despite two fewer selling days this year and an overall slowing of sales seen throughout the industry,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA. “With the all-new Sportage attracting more customers than ever before, and the return of our music-loving hamsters in a new campaign for the Soul, we are confident customers will continue to discover all that the ‘New Kia’ has to offer.”

Go Back In Time With Kia
Since 1944, Kia Motors has undergone vast transformations and expansions. It began as a small bicycle and motorcycle parts manufacturer, and by the 1960s they emerged onto the car scene. In 1962, they released the K-360, which was a three-wheel vehicle, and quickly replaced it with the T-600, a very rare model which there are only three known vehicles left in the world. The Brisa was released in 1974 and was the first domestically produced passenger car. This allowed Kia to expand their global presence, as it was the first vehicle that was exported. Production of the Brisa ended in 1981, but by then Kia was on to bigger and better vehicles, like the Bongo pick up and minibus. The subcompact Kia Pride was the inspiration for the well-known Rio, and one of the Kia’s most iconic vehicles. These days, we see Kia merging into the luxury vehicle market, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them!

Kia Is Producing a GT Sports Sedan
Following the powerful response that Kia received after unveiling the GT Sports Sedan at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Kia decided to move this vehicle from simply a concept car to a regular production version. It may have taken five years, but you know what they say, the best cars come to those who wait!
While we don’t have all the details yet, we can tell you that the prototype, which was spotted in Southern California by Left Lane News, had very similar GT concept elements. It is expected that this sports sedan will have the rear-wheel drive system of the upcoming Hyundai Genesis, and the style of the GT4 Stinger concept. It will mostly likely be powered by the turbocharged 3.3L V6 Engine, and will have a starting MSRP of around $40,000.
Be on the lookout for this Kia GT Sports Sedan sometime in mid-2018!
