Kia Expands Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
If you’re like us, you’re probably addicted to your smartphone. Now, Kia is making it easier for you to enjoy your phone while driving – safely! Kia Motors America announced this week that it will be enhancing its advanced UVO platform by offering software updates that include free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This service is already available for a number of New Kia Vehicles, but now current Kia vehicle owners can enjoy it too! Check out the list below to see if you’re eligible.

2017 Kia Sorento is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+
The 2017 Kia Sorento, the best-selling SUV from Kia has just been awarded the rating of Top Safety Pick Plus by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) when it is equipped with the front-crash prevention (optional). In order to receive the Top Safety Pick Plus rating, a vehicle must pass each crashworthiness test with a rating of “good” while also achieving an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention. The 2017 Sorento managed to do so, receiving a “good” rating on the moderate overlap front, small overlap front, roof strength and head restraints, and side impact tests.
“These results are a clear indication that Kia places a high priority on safety by offering advanced crash avoidance technologies and enhancing vehicle structure through the use of advanced high-strength steel,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, KMA. “We are proud that the Sorento received strong ratings across the board, and having earned the prestigious TSP+ award bolsters our strong safety record and the integrity of our products.”

Smelly Car, Smelly Car
Have you noticed your vehicle has a funky smell lately? First things first, check under your seats to make sure there’s no food or mysterious object lodged underneath. If that’s not the culprit, we have six other possible reasons why your car stinks, thanks to About Autos helpful list.
Car Smell: Sweet
Culprit: Heater Core
Antifreeze has a very sweet smell, so if you smell this in your car, chances are your heater core is leaking. Another sign is if there’s a filmy fog on your windshield when your heat is on.
Car Smell: Acrid
Culprit: Brakes
This usually means that your brake material is burnt, which is a result of riding your brakes or leaving the parking brake on.
Car Smell: Burning Oil
Culprit: Oil Leak
When oil leaks on the exhaust system, it burns. You’ll notice the smell almost immediately.
Car Smell: Musty
Culprit: Water
If you smell mold or mildew in your car, unwanted water is probably leaking into your car through a leaky door or window.
Car Smell: Raw Gas
Culprit: Leaking Gas (Shocking!)
If you smell a strong gas odor in your car, it could be a result of a number of things including leaky fuel lines, stuck injectors, or bad fuel pressure regulators.
Car Smell: Sulfur
Culprit: Catalytic Converter
The catalytic converter alters exhaust gasses in order to reduce any harmful emissions. If something goes awry, it can end up smelling like rotten eggs. The solution is to replace the catalytic converter and fix or replace whatever else caused it to fail.

Fourth of July Celebration in Gaithersburg
If you live near Gaithersburg, Rockville, Bethesda, Germantown, and Silver Spring, MD and are still making your Fourth of July plans, look no further than Gaithersburg, MD! They’ll be hosting the Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks, a day full of fun activities for the whole family ending with a fireworks spectacular. This year, it will take place at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm, a 60-acre park home to Gaithersburg Water Park, Skate Park, and Mini Golf course. The park also has plenty of walking paths, ponds, and a playground. Take a look at some of the events they have going on for July 4th below.
The Ultimate Lawn Party: Activities begin at 5 pm, starting with live music by Millennium and The Lloyd Dobler Effect. The party will feature an interactive DJ, food court, activity vendors, strolling entertainers, family fun inflatables, and lawn games! The Mini Golf Course and Water Park will be opening at 11 am, while the Skate Park will open at 3 pm.
SummerGlo After Party: The party doesn’t stop once the sun goes down! The playground will be fully lit and there will be plenty of glow in the dark activities and giveaways, plus food vendors and a DJ!
Fireworks Display and Parking: Beginning at dusk (around 9:30 pm), the half-hour fireworks display will feature amazing colors, styles, and shapes, launched as high as 500 feet in the air.

Learn About the 2017 Kia Forte
The refreshed 2017 Kia Forte may not be available at King Kia yet, but we wanted to give our customers near Gaithersburg, Rockville, Bethesda, Germantown, and Silver Spring, MD an exclusive first look at all of the details! Check them out below so you can be ready for your test drive when the Forte arrives at 953 N Frederick Ave in Gaithersburg, MD 20879.
Trims: The 2017 Kia Forte will now be available in three trims: the base-trim LX, the sporty S, and top-trim EX.
Exterior: The 2017 Kia Forte will feature several European-styling enhancements including a new front bumper, newly designed headlights, and a new “tiger nose” grille.
Interior: The LX and S will have upgraded cloth material seats, while the EX will come standard with leather and heated front seats as well as dual-zone automatic temperature control and a push-button start.
Technology: The S and EX come standard with UVO3 telematics and smartphone compatibility via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drive Mode System will be available on some trims, which allows the driver to switch from Normal, Eco, and Sport Mode.
Safety: Advanced driver assistance systems will be available for the 2017 Kia Forte, including Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert.
Performance: The 2017 Kia Forte will receive an upgraded standard 2.0 Liter Atkinson Four-Cylinder Engine, which produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Six-Speed Manual and Automatic Transmissions are both available.

J.D. Power Ranks Kia Motors Number One in Quality
Kia Motors set an enormous precedent during the 2016 Initial Quality Study (IQS) as the first non-premium brand to top J.D. Power’s rankings in 27 years. The IQS, which is now in its 30th year, surveys new vehicle owners in 26 segments to determine the vehicle’s performance and the owner’s experience during the first 90 days of their ownership.
